We will have Summer School T-shirts, company hoodies, photographs and a video of the show available. There will be groups for 6-18 year olds! No experience necessary

Monday – Thursday at Ringwood School 9.15am-3.30pm. Friday at Verwood Hub 12pm-8pm (Showcase at 6pm)

Information

Thank you for showing your interest in our Musical Theatre Summer School!
This information identifies key points you need to know at this stage.

Cost

As you can imagine, the expenditure for the summer school is considerable. We have West End performers, training performers, ex-students, chaperones, teachers, musicians, and technical support that we want to pay generously. We also have to pay for the hire of the rooms and facilities at the school and technical support/equipment for the show. This is charged at the same rate as any other external company.

We will provide a fun and educational week for all our students, photographs and a recording of the show. This cost includes a Summer School T-Shirt and two tickets for one of the Friday evening performance.

The cost of the five days is £235 per student.

There are a number of local charities who may offer financial support.

Please contact Miss Helen Hawkins if you would like to discuss more options.

The Day

The day will begin at 9.15am and finish at 3.30pm.

Friday 21st August will be show day. Students must be available from 12pm-8pm.

Showcase

On the final day, we will be performing to an audience. This will aim to be a full theatrical spectacle in costume with lights and sound and a live band.

All costume requirements will be given out at the end of July and there will be a team to help support students in sourcing them.

Additional tickets will be available nearer to the time.

This will be our sixth Summer School – it has always been a fantastic week, and I have no doubt this will be as well. I hope you are looking forward to this as much as we are.

Terms and Conditions

Application Process

Upon receipt of the first instalment for the Summer School, you enter into a contract with The HHDC and confirm that you wish to accept the offer of a place. You are therefore subject to the terms and conditions of the Summer School booking, as set out on this page.

Fees

Fees for the sum of £235 per student must be paid in full by August 1st unless otherwise agreed. The fee for the second sibling is £212.

Instalments can be made monthly from the month you sign up. For example: December sign up = £26.12 a month.

Late payments may jeopardise your child’s place. Please get in touch if there is a problem.

If this course is cancelled by The HHDC, a full refund will be offered. If the course is cancelled part way through there will be a pro rata refund.

If during the week of the Summer School your child is unable to attend any part of the course, no refund will be made.

Expectations

If you are successful in your application to the Summer School, you will be required to comply with The HHDC’s Code of Conduct.

This code sets out expectations for student behaviour and the procedures used by The HHDC in order to resolve matters when students’ behaviour is unacceptable. If you breach any of the terms set out in the Code of Conduct, your child may be withdrawn from the Summer School with no refund given.

All students and parents should conduct themselves in a caring, polite and professional manner at all times. This includes whilst waiting for classes to begin and in our social areas and communication via email. All the tutors, teachers and chaperones are very experienced in working with young people, working with different abilities and assessing the needs of the groups including their level of skill. All of these people have the students’ best interests at heart and every decision has been passed through Helen Hawkins. Please respect this.

We have a Zero Tolerance policy towards rude, disrespectful or disruptive behaviour and The HHDC maintains the right to remove any offending students and/or parents from the school.

Code of Conduct

The ethos of The HH Dance Company is one of respect. The highest standards of behaviour and support are demanded of everyone. Encouragement, kindness and generosity of spirit will be expected. Bullying in all its forms, including online, will not be tolerated.

Ethos

The HH Dance Company will:

  • Treat all people, students, teachers, tutors alike equally, with respect and dignity.
  • Provide a range of high-quality tuition from experienced teachers, professional performers as well as those that are currently training for the performing arts industry.
  • Build balanced relationships based on mutual trust in a safe and fun environment so that students thrive.
  • Involve and inform parents and carers so that students feel fully supported.
  • Strive to give constructive, positive feedback to allow students to improve and develop.
  • Recognise that everyone has different abilities and aspirations.
  • Ensure that a safe environment for learning is available. This will include valid DBS certificates for all staff; appropriate insurance cover; risk assessment and first aid cover.
Social Media

Communication: All communication from parents and students must be made via email to The Helen Hawkins Dance Company and not to the tutors directly on social media or any other platform.

Use of Mobile Phones: We ask that students do not use their mobile phones at break or lunch times. The older students may wish to use their mobile phones in order to record dance footage or vocal lines to practise. Every student in the group will have given consent for this but must also be asked at the time of recording. No recording of rehearsal footage by students is to go on social media. Tutors will manage this expectation during the class.
