About us

Welcome to The Helen Hawkins Dance Company. We are a theatre dance company with dance and Musical Theatre classes held in Ringwood and the local area. The company was founded in August 2020 with our first Summer Workshop. By August 2021, the company had doubled in size with over 120 students joining our Musical Theatre Summer School. The intense week-long event was led by West End and professional tutors, culminating in the students performing two shows with a live orchestra!

We welcome students from every dance background. The classes we offer will compliment any classical, graded, or other dance, acting or singing classes taken. We work predominately on performance and style through a variety of choreography and repertoire. We welcome anyone with a passion for performing to join us.

The company is made up of a variety of visiting tutors and four permanent teachers. We work closely with current West End performers in Ringwood and in London. Having this connection to current performers allows our students to learn from and build relationships with a network of professionals that have links to theatre schools and jobs in London and around the country.

The team also consists of Ian Hawkins who leads the vocal training for the Advanced Development Course (ADC), Sam O’Rourke who teaches tap and leads the acting technique in ADC and Jo Dilly who teaches Ballet. Find out more about them here.
